Our history.
A lasting commitment to giving back.
Sunil Puri immigrated with very little to Rockford, Illinois from Mumbai, India in 1979 to attend Rockford University. Rockford became the place where he built a business, formed lasting relationships and committed himself to the community around him.
“I’ve tried to give back as much as I can. Not just money, but time and talent.”
-Sunil Puri
BUILDING A LIFE IN ROCKFORD
In 1984, Sunil founded First Midwest Group. His work in real estate development was one part of his contribution to Rockford. Giving back through education and community initiatives became another.
Giving beyond business.
GIVING PHILOSOPHY
Sunil believed that contribution meant more than financial support. It also meant giving time, sharing experience and taking an active interest in the future of his community.
Continuing his commitment.
Sunil Puri’s life story remains a core source of purpose that guides our mission at the Puri Foundation. We honor Sunil’s memory by expanding our family’s philanthropic commitment to the local community and beyond, emphasizing issue areas with the greatest impact and funding opportunity where it is needed most.
In loving memory.
